Day Two

God Is Loving - pgs 50-54

Realize
1. Based on John 15:13, how did Jesus show His live for you? What else does the Bible tell you about God's love?(See John 3:16; Romans 5:8; 1 John 4:7-10)

2. What effect do your feelings have on the truth of God's love for you?

Reflect
3. Even though you may know that God loves you, you probably don't always feel that He does. What are some of the things that can cause you to feel that no one really loves or cares about you?

4. How can you live within the reality of God's love even on those days when you don't feel His love?

Respond
5. It has been said that if we could begin to grasp the greatness of God's love, our lives would be totally transformed. How would you think differently about God, about Yourself, and about your circumstances if you truly understood how incredibly much God loves you?

6. What are some ways you can grow in your understanding of the love of God?

7. Read Paul's prayer in Ephesians 3:14-19. Personalize this prayer and pray it for yourself or for someone you know who has difficulty accepting the love of God.

Prayer of the Day
Lord, I know that You love me. I admit that on some days I just don't feel it. Remind me at those times not to trust my feelings but to believe the truths I know from Your Word. Amen.

Today as I read this lesson I sat back and tried to really understand the love of God in it's fullness. You know, we can't. We may know it in our heads that God loves us, we as women want to "feel" loved.

The more I thought about it, I started thinking about Bailey. Our children do something to disappoint us everyday, but we still love them, no matter what. God is the same way towards us. We disappoint Him everyday, but He still loves us and allows us to come back to Him for forgiveness.

I don't know if I can express this, but I agree with you Aleisha. God is love, He is the very essence of love, He is the definition of love. God loved us before we were even thought of by our parents, He loved us when we were full of sin and rejected Him and He loves us- I like to imagine- with an even more special love once we are His children. Without God, we would never know what love really is because God is the definition of love. If you want to know how much you love somebody, compare your love to God's love. I guarantee that it won't be even close to the love God has for us. It really is a simple concept- God IS love- yet it is so hard to accept because we like to "feel" love. I'm going to try to remind myself more often that God IS love no matter the circumstances or my feelings.
