Today we begin week 3. We are beginning to witness some of the trials that will face Mordecai and Esther. In last week's lesson we saw that Mordecai saved the king's life, but he did not reward him for it. Instead he promoted Haman to the highest seat of honor and commanded everyone to kneel down to him. This is one thing Mordecai refused to do. Everyday he was faced with the decision to bow or remain standing. He may have even been ridiculed for taking a stand, no pun intended :0)
Have you been tempted or pressed to do something over and over again, until finally you give in just to have the temptation stop? Mordecai should be an example to us. No matter how many times we are pressed to do something, if we know it's wrong, we should stand our ground and do the right thing.
Let me encourage you to comment on the lesson throughout the week. We would love to hear what God is teaching you through this lesson. What you have to say may convict others and cause them to see something they were missing.

Day One of the lesson this week had struck my heart. She makes a statement saying, "If we discern something evil or suspicious, God call us to take our concerns to Him and ... ask Him what-if anything- we should do." This struck me. I've been fighting my own emotions over several things in my life and this convicted me that I shouldn't make decisions because I feel like it-that's the easy way out. I should stay where I'm at and talk to God about how I feel or what I "see" as a "wrong" until He tells me to move.
Another thing that struck me from Esther 3:4- those officials knew Haaman's feelings for Jews and they purposefully told him to see how he would react. What things have people told us just to see how we react? How did we do when that happened- did we act true to form or did we act like Christ?
I didn't realize that the announcement to kill the Jews was given on the first day of Passover. Imagine getting ready to celebrate Passover and this news comes, that you and your family will be killed. Also imagine the opportunity the Jews had to be an example of hope for their families. God delivered them before, He could do it again.
